About this piece
French Tapestry, France – Here is a truly wonderful rug – a tapestry made in France. This rug represents something genuinely special, and is a testament to the artisans who produced it. A beautiful piece, this rug possesses many of the qualities most sought after by collectors and experts, and would bring beauty and sophistication to any home. Surrounded by an archetypal floral border, this naturalist tapestry from France features a pastoral forest scene with rocks, plants, grasses, vines and trees extending into the distance. Detailed shading adds depth and dimension to the craggy rocks, textural tree bark and shadowy foliage while the scalloped leaves in the tree canopy evoke a vague oriental influence. Simply put, this rug is a remarkable piece of work. A lovely and elegant design and composition combine to make this rug something more than a decorative piece: they combine to make it a veritable work of art
